Kreuzweg

Kreuzweg is a fictitious location, but draws on very real elements of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) in the Southwest of Switzerland. The real railway is part of the meter gauge network that is so prevalent in the Swiss Alps, and at 1:87 scale this is represented by 12mm gauge track, which classifies it as HOm.

The model was built as a 2 meter long diorama in order to develop scenic modelling skills and techniques that will eventually be employed on a future, grander winter themed layout. With the addition of some ‘off-stage’ modules it can be transformed into a simplistic exhibition layout that allows viewers to watch realistic length trains run through their natural mountain environment.

All of the stock is ready-to-run (RTR), and is by German manufacturer BEMO; with a focus on trains that were operating on the prototype network during the winter of 2019/2020. The model was featured on the cover of the January 2023 edition of Continental Modeller magazine and is available for exhibition bookings.
