Welcome to the web site of the Oxford & District Model Railway Club. The club is the oldest in Oxfordshire and boasts a small but friendly membership. Every week at its meeting there will be some modelling taking place but probably a fair amount of talking as well! OMRC meets every Tuesday evening from 7:45 at Collinwood Road United Reformed Church on the A40, 100 yards East of McDonalds and the Headington Roundabout. Chertonwell is our N gauge layout. This layout is unique in that it uses the MERG block controllers to run the layout. This allows for multiple trains on the same track with the aim that they self regulate their speed, speeding up and slowing down automatically depending on the occupancy of the next block. OMRC is also the creator of the award winning layout Rewley Road shown here being exhibited at Quainton Railway Centre where it was the focal point of the opening of the rebuilt Oxford Rewley Road station on that site. OMRC has several layouts that are being actively worked on. Club members model in every scale/gauge combination from Z to O and their interests cover British and continental, standard and narrow gauge, railways and trams. |
OMRC Annual ExhibitionThe exhibition will be held on May 17th 2008 at Witney Methodist Church, Witney. There is a good selection of layouts attending along, including those from our Chairman's Challenge. There is ample parking, disabled access and refreshments will be available. Chairman's ChallengeThe Chairman said "Produce a layout in 8 sq ft and we'll exhibit them at our 2008 exhibition in Witney". Several members have set to and produced layouts in various shapes and sizes - all under 8 sq ft but in scales from Z to 1/12 scale. Click here for full details |
