Pwllheli 1

Pwllheli is a an N gauge layout built by Geoff Bennett, a member of OMRC. It is is the terminus of the former GWR line from Porthmadog.  Based in the present day from an idea in Railway Modeller, January 1997, the layout represents the station and town of Pwllheli somewhere between 1990 and today.

Some of the buildings in the town are modelled in card and painted.  Freight has been restored to the line in an initiative to reduce heavy  traffic on the area's narrow roads.

Colour light signals control train movements and the signal box has been re-furbished and re-opened. All loco's are Graham Farish re-painted in EWS livery.

Train movements are to a sequence:  passenger services are operated by two aged DMU's and a steam hauled special puts in an appearance.  Most of the freight arrives in vans in the front sidings and is transferred to local road vehicles.  An oil terminal is a short distance along the line so tank wagons are shunted to the station for loco run-round.

Geoff is a member of the N Gauge Society (17011) and his layout has the Society code of YBFD.

Pwllheli is scheduled to appear at the OMRC exhibition in May 2008.
