Welcome to the web site of the Oxford & District Model Railway Club. The club is the oldest in Oxfordshire and boasts a small but friendly membership. Every week at its meeting there will be some modelling taking place but probably a fair amount of talking as well! OMRC meets every Tuesday evening from 7:45 at Collinwood Road United Reformed Church on the A40, 100 yards East of McDonalds and the Headington Roundabout. Chertonwell is our N gauge layout. This layout is unique in that it uses the MERG block controllers to run the layout. This allows for multiple trains on the same track with the aim that they self regulate their speed, speeding up and slowing down automatically depending on the occupancy of the next block. OMRC is also the creator of the award winning layout Rewley Road shown here being exhibited at Quainton Railway Centre where it was the focal point of the opening of the rebuilt Oxford Rewley Road station on that site. OMRC has several layouts that are being actively worked on. Club members model in every scale/gauge combination from Z to O and their interests cover British and continental, standard and narrow gauge, railways and trams. |
OMRC Exhibition 2010There's only a month to go to this year's annual exhibition on Sunday 2 May 2010 at the Henry Box School, Witney. After last years cancellation this is destined to be one of the best with 16 layouts and 5 traders booked so far. Full details of this year's show can be found here. |
Zedex Exhibition 2010Zedex2010 will be taking place on Sunday Oct 10 2010 at Kingston Bagpuize village Hall. There are 15 layouts and 3 traders booked so far. Full details of this year's show can be found here. |
Most of the photographs of the club's layouts and exhibitions on this website were taken by club member Andrew Burchett. Andrew currently uses a Canon 450D but other photographs on this website were taken with a compact Olympus or a Fuji 602Z.
